TIDA-01159: The TIDA-01159 design provides a reference solution for half-bridge isolated gated drivers used in driving power stages of UPS, inverters, server and telecom applications. This TI Design is based on the UCC21520 reinforced insulated gate driver from TI, and is capable of driving MOSFETs and SiC-FETs. The reference design contains a built-in isolated push-pull auxiliary power supply for powering the output of the isolated gate driver. By bringing together the isolated gate driver and isolated power supply in a compact board with a form factor (!~30 mm × 35 mm), this reference design provides a fully tested robust half bridge driver solution, capable of withstanding >100 kV/μs common mode transient immunity (CMTI).

TIDA-00834: The TIDA-00834 reference design accurately measures voltage and current inputs using simultaneously sampled, 16-bit, ±10 V, bipolar input SAR ADC critical to identify power systems malfunction and power quality related failures accurately and quickly. This results in reduced power systems downtime. The AFE includes signal conditioning based on precision instrumentation or precision amplifier for current measurement upto 125A and opamp based signal conditioning circuit for voltage measurement upto 300V. The gain amplifier for voltage and current inputs are used to scale the sensor output to the ADC range. Coherent sampling of the analog input signals is implemented using comparator and FPGA. The power supply for data acquisition front end is generated using a +5V input.

TIDA-01281: The TIDA-01281 reference design is low cost, high efficiency, isolated RS-485, I2C & CAN communication module solution intended for use in industrial systems such as Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) and energy storage banks that require isolated communication and isolated power for RS-485/I2C/CAN transceivers. The design has on-board C2000-Piccolo microcontroller for handling the communications protocol for each of interfaces. The board has in-built, low component count, high efficiency, primary side controlled isolated power supply to generate secondary power for communication transceivers eliminating the need for opto-coupler feedback circuits. The TIDA-01281 design is tested for data transmission under various conditions and under EFT and ESD environment, highlighting the performance of TI devices for robust data transmission in harsh environments.

This compact reference design is intended to control IGBT’s in 3-phase inverters like AC drives, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and solar inverters. The design uses a reinforced isolated IGBT gate driver with DESAT feature and built-in miller clamp protection, enabling use of unipolar supply voltage for the gate drive. Open loop push pull topology based power supply for each gate driver provides flexibility in PCB routing. The push pull transformer driver used in TIDA-00446 operates at 420 khz which helps in reducing the size of the isolation transformer leading to compact power supply solution. Gate drive power supply can be disabled to facilitate safe torque off (STO).

TIDA-00752: In order to provide system designers a new cost-effective and easy alternative to assured precision temperature measurement, this reference design discusses the new tiny 2-pin digital output IC temperature sensor with single wire pulse count interface that enhances reliability and greatly simplifies the design of galvanic isolation architecture for sending both power and unidirectional data through same low profile transformer and remote operation. In addition, with fewer error sources, computation of error budget is easier. Cost budgets, accuracy, size and simplicity of interfacing with other circuit elements are main factors in selecting a sensor to do a job and this reference design system tremendously helps in meeting all these requirements. With less-than 0.25°C maximum measured error over temperature range -50°C to 150°C, functional isolation of 400VRMS and IEC61000-4-4 pre-compliance testing, this design significantly reduces the design time for development of high-accuracy temperature measurement systems.
