Ultra-Small 1W, 12V-36V Iso Power Supply for Analog Prog Logic Controller Modules Reference Design
TIDA-00237: Analog input and output modules are a standard component in Programmable Logic Controllera (PLC) or Distributed Control Systems (DCS). More channels per module and slimmer modules bring design challenges to the isolated power supply in those modules. Anyone facing those challenges will benefit from TIDA-00237, as the total design foot print is less than 2.54x2.54mm and less than 5mm height. It uses a fly-buck approach which means no optocoupler feedback with wide input voltage range of 12V-36V. The design provides +/-15V and 5V isolated, low noise outputs optimal for driving a data converter or analog front end.
Single Chip 2-Wire Loop Powered, 4 to 20mA Current Loop RTD Temperature Transmitter Reference Design
TIDA-00247: In general, for portable 2-wire 4 to 20mA current loop applications, the system power consumption needs to be considered carefully. The conventional approach of using a high bridge excitation voltage and an operational amplifier to achieve a full-scale ADC input voltage increases chip count and overall power consumption. An additional external voltage regulator is also needed to excite the bridge sensor and supply the microcontroller from the same voltage source. Since the goal for this reference design is to maintain low power consumption and low cost solution. This solution utilizes the integrated ADC and operational amplifiers (OAs) of a microcontroller. In order to cut down the cost, the ADC/DAC use the main supply voltage as its reference voltage instead of including an external reference or selecting a more expensive ADC/DAC that features an internal reference. Leveraging the integrated peripherals of MCU enables low component count and low cost. This reference design is based on a mixed signal microcontroller, specifically an MSP430F2274.
4.4 V to 30 V, 15 A, High Performance Brushless DC Drone Propeller Controller Reference Design
TIDA-00643: The TIDA-00643 reference design is a 4.4 to 30 V brushless DC motor controller for high power drone, quadcopter, propeller, fan, and pump applications. It uses the Texas Instrument’s DRV8305 brushless DC motor gate driver, CSD17573Q5B 30V NexFET power MOSFETs, TPD4E05U06 TVS protection IC, C2000 motor control MCU, and LMR16006 3.3 V buck converter. It utilizes InstaSPINTM-FOC for sensorless field oriented motor control and commands the motor speed through an external reference signal from a central controller. This design is focused on demonstrating a highly efficient and high power BLDC motor system.
